About The Maryland Post

The Maryland Post was founded in Annapolis in the winter of 1977 by a group of reporters who had left larger papers and wanted to cover one state properly. The first edition went out on New Year’s Day, 1978, with a press run of four thousand and a front page devoted almost entirely to the legislature.

The paper has printed every day since. Our newsroom covers the twenty-three counties and Baltimore City, the Chesapeake and its watershed, the delegations in Annapolis and Washington, and the schools, teams, courts and businesses that make up ordinary life in the state.

Corrections

The Post corrects errors of fact promptly and in full. Corrections appear at the foot of the corrected article and in the daily corrections column. Readers who believe we have published an error may write to the editors.

Our archive

Every edition back to 1978 is available to subscribers. Articles published before 1988 are reproduced from the original photographic plates, which is why photographs from that period appear in black and white.
